Blakemere's Blog for the week ending the 25.10.2024
Date: 3rd Nov 2024 @ 11:16am
Our final week of the half term was filled with lots of great things.
Chester Zoo
We had two more workshops from Chester Zoo exploring our local area and the different ways we could support and help our native wildlife. The week finished with our KS2 trip to Chester Zoo where we got to see many amazing animals. What a great way to end this busy half term. Please see below the pictures from our trip to the zoo.
Black History Month
As part of Black History Month celebrating the achievements of many black people throughout our world, we spent some time exploring the life of Rosa Parks. We learnt about her and how she stood up for what she believed in. We then used her story as a driver for looking at what we are going to stand up for and how we can all make a little change. Images of this work will be shared soon.
Secret Question
Share our class blog with your child and send them in with the answer to this secret question to earn themselves some raffle tickets:
Find 5 multiples of 4.
What can you do at home?
- Ensure your child has prepared themselves for the week ahead by having their reading book in school with them every day.
- PE is on a Monday and Thursday so please ensure that your child has the correct PE kit in on those days. Appropriate footwear is also encouraged.
- Read with your child and encourage them to find books and reading materials that they are interested in. I am also always happy to help and recommend books if needed. Please record this reading each day on the online reading log. A new link is sent to you from Learning with Parents each week. I absolutely love reading the comments, seeing the photographs and hearing the audio clips of the children reading.
- Encourage your child to practise their times tables on Times Table Rockstar. Times tables are incredibly important in all areas of Maths and a fast and confident recall of them really helps.
- Practise the list of spellings that will be sent home on Monday. We are starting a new spelling pattern which we will explore for two weeks and then have the spelling check for these on Monday 18th November. Please let me know of you need another copy of these.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and if you have any questions then please do ask.
