๐ŸŒŸ Blakemere Class Blog – Weekly Round-Up! ๐ŸŒŸ

What a fantastic week we've had in Blakemere! The classroom has been full of creativity, curiosity, and determination as we explored new learning across all subjects.

โœ๏ธ English

This week, we’ve been diving deeper into our class text and developing our writing skills. We explored complex sentences using subordinate conjunctions, practiced inferring character traits, and planned and wrote diary entries in role as Helen, one of the characters from our book. It was such a joy to read all the different diary entries – each one was thoughtful, imaginative, and full of emotion. Well done, everyone!

โž– Maths

In Maths, we tackled the topic of negative numbers. We practised counting forwards and backwards through zero and moved on to solving problems involving negative values. It was a challenge at times, but the whole class showed resilience and worked incredibly hard. Great perseverance, Blakemere!

๐Ÿงช Science

Our Science lessons took us inside the human body as we learnt about the different parts of blood and the important jobs they do. Next week, we’ll be making our own model of blood – so please remember to bring in a 500ml plastic bottle. It’s going to be messy fun!

๐ŸŽจ Art

We continued our exploration of typography, this time using laptops to create digital examples. It was exciting to see everyone experimenting with fonts, colours, and layouts to express their names creatively.

๐Ÿ“š History

In History, we studied the Evacuation of Dunkirk and discussed why it was such a significant event in World War II. Using photographs from the time helped us understand the reality of the situation and we agreed that these were reliable sources of information. A powerful and thought-provoking lesson.

๐ŸŽ‰ Celebrations

Let’s give a big round of applause to:

  • Phoebe, Lexi-May, Connie, Alice, and Danielle – your work was selected as excellent examples this week!
  • Zac and Alyssia – congratulations on being chosen as our Workers of the Week!
  • Danielle, Phoebe, and Keiya – you are our Times Table Rock Stars! Keep rocking those numbers!

๐Ÿ“Œ Reminders for Next Week

  • PE is on Tuesday and Friday – please ensure kits are in school.
  • Times Table Rock Stars – just 5 minutes a night makes a big difference. Let’s get those numbers back up!
  • Spellings – please support your child with their weekly spellings.
  • Reading Logs – links will be sent out again on Monday. Keep an eye out and keep recording that reading. We’re aiming for 4 reads per week.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another exciting week ahead!
