Blakemere's Weekly Blog - 09.09.2022

Date: 10th Sep 2022 @ 8:12am

What a lovely first week to our new term we have had in Blakemere.

We have spent some time this week exploring the routines and expectations of being Blakemere and what our year together will look like. We have created some beautiful 'I am' poems all about ourselves, which will form part of our new display. Please keep checking on our website page for an image of this. We have also began to explore our Class Christian Value of Hope and what True Hope means to Chrisitans. We explored different symbols that are used to symbolise hope and why this might be the case.

In English, we have started to explore our new book, but only from one image. The children were encouraged to say what they noticed from the image and then write any questions that the image posed. We are going to build on this next week, when we begin to infer what may be happening from what we can see.

In Maths, we have started to look at and explore the place value of five and six digit numbers and the children have shown a good understanding of this so far.

We also selected our class read this week. Three books were wrapped up in brown parcel paper with only their blurbs visible. The children had to read the blurbs and vote for the book that they wanted to read. It was very close, but we selected Kensukie's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo.

We have PE in Blakemere every Monday afternoon and then alternate Thursdays and Fridays so please ensure your child has their PE in school on these days.

SECRET QUESTION

What is 9x9? Please write your answer on a piece of paper and bring it to school on Monday and earn yourself 5 raffle tickets.
