Blakemere's Weekly Blog - 11.03.2022

And just like that we are at the end of another busy week in Blakemere and I couldn't be prouder of how hard everyone is working. 

In English, we have now completed our final piece of writing about our chosen endangered animals. The children have worked incredibly hard to include all of our focus mastery keys within this piece of writing. We shall be editing these next week and then publishing them to make a new display within our classroom. Watch this space for our display of this fabulous work.

We have continued to focus on finding percentages of different amounts within Maths. We began by finding 25%, 50% and 75%. Then we moved on to 10% and multiples of 10% and 1%and multiples of 1% and we are now at the point where we are finding any given percent by using what we have learnt. It is wonderful to watch the children confidence grow when doing this. Next week, we shall be moving on to solving problems involving percentages. 

In Science, the children have started a new topic which focuses on Electriclty. We began by exploring the different ways in which electricity can be gerenated and how there are both non-renwable and renewable forms of electricity. The children then used this information to write a film clip about the wonders of electricity to share with others.

We have continued to explore in RE, why the Five Pillars of Islam are important to Muslims. This week we focused on Pillar 1 - the Shahadah which is a Muslim's main belief. We explored what our main beliefs are and why they are important to us and these discussions were great. From these discussions, we have created two BIG questions that we would like to explore further, 

Finally, during our class collective worship this week, the children took a moment of reflection to think about the current conflict in Ukraine. We linked our thoughts and discussions to our class Chrisitian Value of Hope and created Peace and Hope doves, which are beautfully displayed in our reflection area.

What a week Blakemere and I am looking forward to seeing what next week brings.
