Blakemere's Weekly Blog - 14.11.2025

Date: 14th Nov 2025 @ 3:45pm

Hello everyone,

We’ve had a thoughtful and busy week in class, and I’m excited to share what we’ve been learning!

🌺  Remembrance Week

This week, we explored the question: “How do the people of Nantwich remember?”
We used different images of memorials around Nantwich and discussed how they are used for acts of remembrance. We also explored the Cheshire Roll of Honour website, which lists the names of soldiers who fought in various battles. One of the most meaningful activities was learning about William Slack, a soldier from Nantwich, and writing a biography about his life and service.

📚 History

In History, we investigated why the Battle of Britain was considered a turning point in World War II. We answered questions about how radar technology helped, who contributed to the battle, and the ways in which citizens supported the war effort. Next week, we will move on to our final lesson in this topic, which will focus on The Blitz.

Maths

In Maths, we practiced multiplication, working on both the short method and the long method to strengthen our understanding and accuracy.

🔬 Science

In Science, we explored how nutrients and water are transported around the body through the blood. This gave us a fascinating insight into how our bodies work to keep us healthy.

Celebrations

As I was out of class today, we will celebrate Worker of the Week, share excellent examples, and announce our Times Table Rockstars champions on Monday. Well done to Finley for having his name picked from the raffle ticket tin.

Gentle Reminders

  • 👟 PE Kits: Please make sure these are brought in on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • 📖 Reading: Should happen regularly and be recorded at least four times each week.
  • 🎮 Times Table Rockstars: A great way to support fluent recall—little and often is best!
  • ✏️ Spelling Practice: Short, regular sessions make a big difference.

Thank you for your continued support at home—it really makes a difference! Wishing you all a lovely weekend, and I look forward to another exciting week of learning ahead.
