π A Fantastic Week of Learning and Discovery! π
What a brilliant week we’ve had together! Our classroom has been full of thoughtful discussion, curiosity, and some truly impressive learning across all subjects.
βοΈ English
In English, we explored the experiences of people who travelled from the Caribbean to England and the challenges they faced, particularly surrounding racism and discrimination. The children showed great sensitivity and maturity when discussing these important issues. Using what we learned, we wrote detailed paragraphs that included parenthesis, modal verbs, and carefully chosen vocabulary to enhance our writing. We also researched the inspiring lives of Floella Benjamin and Benjamin Zephaniah, learning how both individuals used their voices to challenge injustice and celebrate identity.
β Maths
In Maths, we have been developing our confidence when multiplying and dividing whole numbers by fractions. Towards the end of the week, we moved on to decimals, exploring the relationship between tenths and hundredths and learning how these can also be written as fractions. The children demonstrated excellent perseverance and reasoning skills—fantastic progress all round!
πΊοΈ Geography
Our Geography lessons focused on the regions of the United Kingdom and their populations. We were amazed to discover that Greater London, despite being the smallest region, has one of the largest populations. This sparked some great discussions and helped us develop a deeper understanding of population distribution.
π¬ Science
In Science, we carried out an exciting investigation into electrical circuits, focusing on the voltage of batteries. We explored how using a battery with a higher voltage affected the brightness of a bulb—and we were amazed at just how bright it became! A wonderful example of hands-on learning in action.
π Let’s Celebrate! π

π Gentle Reminders for Home Support
To help your child continue to progress, please support them with the following:
π Reading at Home
Reading has dropped significantly recently. Children should be reading at least four times a week—no excuses!
If you need support choosing books, I’m always happy to recommend suitable titles.
π Reading books must be in school every day.
πΈ Times Table Rockstars
Little and often works wonders—just a few minutes each day can make a big difference!
βοΈ Weekly Spellings
Please ensure your child is practising regularly at home.
π PE Days
Tuesday and Friday – PE kits must be in school.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We’re looking forward to another exciting week of learning ahead! π
