Blakemere's Weekly Blog - 23.06.2023

Date: 25th Jun 2023 @ 9:31am

The weeks seem to be flying by now in Blakemere and we can't believe we only have 4 weeks left of this school year.

Once again, it has been a busy old week in our class. The children have worked incredibly hard on their retelling of the story 'The Selfish Giant'. The children had to tell the stroy from the point of view of the tree in the garden and it was lovely to see the children using personification to bring the tree to life. Our aim whilst writing our stories was to include our mastery keys that we have been focusing on in writing at the moment. I am very much looking forward to reading the children's stories as we move into next week.

In Maths, we have continued to explore shape. We have recognised and started to describe when a shape would be described as regular or irregular based on its sides and angles. We also had a go at drawing our own 2D shapes using a set of instructions. The children need to ensure that the sides and angels were accurately measured and drawn during this task.

In Science, we have focused on and explored the work of Sir Isaac Newton and his theries with the visible spectrum and produced a factfile about him. We also looked at the work of anothe scientist, Robert Hooke, and how he refuted Newton's work. The factfiles produced were impressive.

At swimming this week, the children focused on drowning prevention and life saving. They engaged and listened incredibly well to the tips they were given.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and I shall see you tomorrow.
