Blakemere's Weekly Blog - 25.03.2022

Date: 27th Mar 2022 @ 11:11am

Another week has flown by here in Blakemere and we are continuing to work as hard as ever. The week began in Science by building simple electrical circuits and testing different materials in them to idenitfy whether the materials were conductors or insulators of electricity. We all thoroughly enjoyed building these circuits and identifying whether our predictions were correct.

In Maths, we have continued to explore converting between different units of measure. We focused quite a bit this week on Length as we can use mm, cm, m and km. By the end of the week our confidence had increased with converting between different units of length. On Wednesday, we had Maths Day in Blakemere where we started to explore ratio - a new concept. The children used jelly beans to write for every statements to compare the quantities and then began to write these statements more mathematically. We will continue to explore Ratio next week.

In English, after making further predictions, we were introdcued to our new text King Kong. The children have enjoyed explring the first couple of pages of our text and have written some excellent setting descriptions ehich include some lovely figurative language.

Towards the end of the week, the children spent time in Comupting designing theit home page to their website. The children worked in partners to pick an endangered specie to design their webpage on. They also had to think about the purpose of their webiste and the target audience.  Next week we will hopefully work towards creating these using Google sites.

Alongside all of this, we have also been working hard learning our song for the Easter service and rehearsing our lines for the narration.

Super job, as always, Blakemere! Keep it up!!
