Blakemere's Weekly Blog - 26.09.2025
Date: 26th Sep 2025 @ 3:56pm
What a fantastic week we've had in Blakemere! It's clear that we're really getting into the swing of things now, and I couldn’t be more proud of how hard the children are working. Their enthusiasm, focus, and teamwork continue to shine through in everything we do.
English
We’ve continued using Star of Fear, Star of Hope as our driver text, and the children have produced some wonderful setting descriptions based on the café scene. Their use of descriptive language has really brought the scene to life! We’ve also been exploring conjunctions and how to create complex sentences—skills we’ll continue to build on next week.
Maths
This week, we’ve delved into Roman numerals and discovered how just seven letters can be used to represent numbers. Why not ask your child which letters are used? We’ve also worked on estimating the position of numbers on a number line and finished the week by introducing negative numbers—great thinking all round!
History
In our World War II topic, we explored the Allied and Axis countries and labelled a world map to show their locations. The children showed great curiosity and understanding as to why different countries decided to join the sides that they did.
Science
Our circulatory system unit is well underway! Today, we had lots of fun acting out how deoxygenated and oxygenated blood travel through the body via the heart. It was a lively and memorable way to understand how our bodies work. See the pictures below.
Art
Typography has been our focus in art, and the children have enjoyed experimenting with different styles and fonts. Today, they created their own unique letters—such creativity on display!
