Blakemere's Weekly Blog - 30.09.2022

Date: 2nd Oct 2022 @ 7:58pm

Another successful week ticked off for Blakemere! We have achieved so much this week and it is great to see the children working so hard in all areas of their learning.

In Maths, this week, we have focused on adding and subtracting different Powers of 10 to lots of different numbers. We then moved on to rounding. We began by rounding any number to the nearest 10, 100 and then 1,000. We shall continue with this next. We used the rounding rap to help with rounding numbers. Why not take a listen here?

In English, we began the week by recapping on subordinate conjunctions and how we can use these to create complex sentences. We explored moving the subordinate clause from the end of the sentences to the beginning and punctuating it accurately. We listened to the 'On a White Bus' song which helps us to remember to the different subordinate conjunctions.

We then tried to apply what we had learnt about complex sentences to help us to write a rumour about what may happen at the Water tower. The children enjoyed making up these rumours and thinking about what we had learnt so far from our story.

In Science, the children have started to explore the lungs and how they work. We explored how the lungs and heart are interlinked. We had some beautifully presented work during this task.

In History, we began to explore The Titanic. We explored and discussed lots of different events that took place in the days before the sinking. The children combined their historiical enquiry skills with their computing skills to produce an online time line.
