Delamere - World Mental Health Day 2020

Date: 11th Oct 2020 @ 9:59am

In school this Friday we celebrated World Mental Health Day and it was so lovely to see the classroom filled with sunshiny yellow, it really did brighten up our day!

As a class we explored the idea of 'the same, but different' and thought about creating our very own monsters using our imaginations. Each child then drew a picture of their monsters and when we looked at them we discovered that they were all unique, not one looked the same as another! However, when we began to share certain features of our monsters, e.g. it had spots, spikes or was blue, we realised that they did have some similarities and, just like us, they were very different but had some things that were the same. One thing that is the same about all of us is that we all have feelings.

Next we explored the book 'Happy" by Nicola Edwards and Katie Hickey. It is a beautiful book about Mindfulness and explores lots of different ways that we can be mindful and look after our mental health. Follow the link below to watch a video of the book.

We then thought about all of the things that fill our hearts with happiness and made some artwork to remind us of these things. See the pictures below. We talked about how we can think about these happy things if we are feeling sad or worried.

We hope that you are having a fabulous weekend and look forward to having lots more fun next week.
