Hello Delamere families,

We have had such a wonderful week and it's been jam packed full of success stories and personal achievements. This week several children mastered how to skip using their new skipping rope, we have seen a lot of children writing and spelling independently and many, many children have been Benchmarked for their reading and have moved up the colour book bands!  Well done to each and every child in Delamere class.  We are so very proud of you all and thank you to all our families for your continued support.

Another thank you goes out for the wonderful donations of food for harvest (as per Mrs Snowdon's blog).  We have received some wonderful packets and tins and we are certain that these will be gratefully received by the food bank.

In English this week we have continued the story of Troll Swap and met the second character called Tabitha.  We have used our inference skills and worked out that Tabitha is in fact quite naughty at times and a little bit noisy.  We have written letters and diaries about Tabitha aiming to use the words 'and' and 'because' within our sentences.  A particular favourite sentence is 'I think Tabitha is quite rude because she never listens to her mum and dad and is always talking loudly!'

We have been practising spelling high frequency words this week.  Here is the list we are focussing on.  Please take a look and perhaps download a copy so yu can support you child with these words regularly.http://file:///C:/Users/user/Downloads/200-Word-Chart-Colour-Coded-3.pdf  or download usingn the link below

In Maths this week we have focussed our attentions on our basic skills in mental recall of addition to 10 and 20.  We have played lots of games to try and improve our recall and resist using our fingers for addition. Some of the games we played were

Half term is the ideal time to polish up on mental maths skills and practise.

Thank you for practising the continents and oceans. We have now moved on to finding out about the seas that surround the UK. Perhaps you could take a look at Google Earth and see if you can find out the answers with your child at home?

In PSHE we have continued to look at healthy eating. We learnt that healthy foods help our bodies to grow, to restore themselves and they give us energy.  In class we also talked about staying safe online with a particular foucs on apps and social media.  We discussed how apps have age ratings and the importance of checking with parents before downloading and using apps and games.  Staying safe online will be our focus after half term.  Keep an eye on Mrs Snowdon's blogs for up to date information and guidance surrounding online platforms.

Thank you for your continued support this half term.  We couldn't have got through it without you.

Have a wonderful rest and do something memorable together as a family.

Take care

Team Delamere
