Good morning Delamere families,

Welcome back. How lovely it was to see everyone again! (see what I did there with that exclamation sentence? We are going to spotting them everywhere) Be it virtually or on site there were lots of beaming smiles and a real 'can do' attitude to work. It's not always easy getting back into a routine when we have had a week of pj days so well done for getting back into the swing of things once again. A clear daily routine is always  a good idea and will definitely help prepare the children for their return to school based learning.  In class we have been talking about the proposed return to school for all children and there has certainly been a buzz excitement of seeing their class mates in the flesh once again.

So far this week we have been looking at and enjoying the next phase of The Dragon Machine.  What super writing the children have done!  Lots of exclamation sentences popping up, some gorgeous letter formation and I am so pleased to read so many children using subordination in some of their writing too.

In maths we have been looking at equal and unequal groups and there are been some wonderful practical sorting and arranging of objects to practise this concept.  We've seen everything from pasta to Lego being sorted!.

This half term we are working on our Right Royal Affair topic which was launched on Tuesday within our history lesson all about monarchs.  Our initial activity of name any kings or queens you already know threw up a whole host of royalty including the Queen Victoria, Queen of the Jungle, King Cole and Henry VIII.  As we move forward we will be looking at comparing queens.

Mrs Worstencroft is starting a new design and technology unit this week relating to the Right Royal Affair through textiles.  We will be using the ideas and thoughts from these lessons in our art project too.  Our walls  are going to look spectacular in the classroom with all this art and design work.  It's going to be a wonderfully creative project.

Some great reading examples seen this week and Mrs Worstencroft has sent links for 1:1 readers.  Keep practising your reading and enjoying books.  I know I  have certainly enjoyed reading recently and can't wait to be able to sit in the garden with a good book and a cup of tea. Just for 5 mnutes!

Take care, stay safe.
