Delamere Class Blog 11.03.21

Date: 11th Mar 2021 @ 4:14pm

Good afternoon,

How lovely it is to be back together again in our Delamere bubble.  After an unexpected delay on Monday it was soon business as usual with a class full of smiling faces, happy chatter and eagerness to see one another again. We continue to be so proud of each and everyone of our children for their resilience, positivity and keeness to learn.  They have certainly 'Let their light shine!' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXkxRNEy8XA  I'm sure your homes all felt just a little bit quieter this week - perhaps play this song at home and let your child join in when they come home from school.

We started the week by looking at the story The World made a Rainbow and thought about how we are patiently waiitng for the world to return to normal.  Here is a quick snippet of the story for you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fm3_A1AgixM and the full version here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4CDUMja8tA  We created our own rainbows and rain showers too to represent 'All rainstorms must end, and this rainstrom will too'.

In class we have been reading The Dragon Machine together (not to the end just yet!) and revisiting some of the skills learnt during the last half term - subordination, commas in a list, noun phrases to name but a few.  WOW there has been some fabulous ideas and work coming through.  We even found time to go on a virtual dragon ride and imagine that we were soaring through the skies and looking down at the views below. What a wonderful time we had!

We have looked at Rabbit and Bear - the story so far and answered lots of questions about the text during Guided Reading  .  We had some super, insightful answers and lots of enthusiasm for the book which is always lovely.  We will be finishing this book in the next couple of weeks.  You must ask your children how the story eneded as I am sure you are curious too.

We've been busy looking at arrays and counting in lots of 3 this week in maths.  Keep practising this at home too. We enjoyed playing the counting in 3s race game and also used dice to create arrays of numbers.

We have already covered so much in class and it is so wonderful to see the children starting to settle back into the day to day routines.  Don't forget PE is every Wednesday and Friday and all reading books will be changed on Wednesday's. We have handed out books for this week as usual.  Please note children will be benchmarked next week so book bands may well change over the next few weeks.

That's all for now. Take care, stay safe and keep smiling!

Mrs Williamson
