Hello

Wow what a wonderful week we have had so far.  You should be very proud of your children who have worked so well in these warm condtions - we had a few tired children by the end of the day on Wednesday.  However this didn't curb their enthusiasm during our PE lesson where we practised our running and skipping skills.  We talked about using powerful arms and powerful legs for running and the importance of staying focussed.  Some of the children said they could feel the improvements straight away and would like to practise at home too.

In English this week we have shared and written a poem about hedgehogs.  Lots of wonderful vocabulary development once again and the discovery of new and interesting words.  They will be finishing the week by putting all their new language and skills into their own poem based around either a fox or a badger.  I can't wait to read the finshed results - they are bound to be amazing!

Inspired by animals, our conversations took a turn towards nocturnal animals and where do animals that are not nocturnal sleep at night.  There was great debate about where do the birds sleep and how come they don't fall over when they are asleep!   With this in mind, we have set them the task of finding out the answers ready to share with the class on Monday.  We love a good debate in Delamere class!

In maths we have been comparing fractions and looking at 2/3 and 3/4 of a shape.  lots of great maths talk and explanantions have been evident this week.  Keep up the good work!  We have also been improving our mental maths skills playing this game https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/daily10  Choose Level 2 - halving - then set the timer to 10 seconds (or less if your child is confident!)

Earlier in the week we revisited Grayson Perry in our art lesson.  We have started to create our own artwork inspired by his comfort blanket with  intention to extend this to using our printing skills.  All will be revealed here soon!

Have a lovely few days!
