It has been lovely to see the children after half term and we really have hit the ground running with a week full to the brim!

In English this week we finally got to finish reading ‘Troll Swap’ and spent some time creating our own characters from the story. We also boxed off the story and briefly explained what happened at the beginning, middle and end. We will use this plan to create our own plan and begin to write our own versions of the story. We can’t wait to see the children work as authors and begin to put all of their creativity down on the page.

In Maths we have been counting in steps of 2, 5 and 10 and we have really grown in confidence with this skill. We also began to count in tens from any 2 digit number, e.g. 2, 12, 22, 32, 42, 52, 62, 72. We found this a little trickier and it would be great if this could be worked on at home. I have attached a link to a great website called number splat where you can click on a number to splat paint on it. Using a 100 square, when we count forward in tens we jump down the column and when we count backwards in tens we jump up the column, drawing attention to the tens changing but the ones staying the same.

The children also really enjoyed playing the game on the link below.

In History we have started to learn about what life was like in Victorian times, and what changes Queen Victoria made and in Art we continued to explore wax resist painting and created some beautiful final pieces. In Science we found out all about Jane Goodall as we continued to learn about living things and their habitats.

We also spent some time looking at ways to stay safe during Bonfire Night celebrations and found the video below really useful.

Our big WELL DONE goes to Daisy, Elsie and Archie for their amazing Numbots efforts this week.

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week.
