Delamere Update Friday 27th May 2016

Date: 27th May 2016 @ 3:42pm

We have made it to the end of another very busy half term. Well done children and thank you for all your hard work.

This week in English we have finished reading the Traction Man story and created story maps to support our retelling. We have also begun to think about writing our own Traction Man story so on Thursday everyone began to plan their new characters.

Our focus in maths has been on 2D and 3D shapes. We have had fun sorting, naming and printing with shapes to help us learn all about their properties. The Year 3 children have extended their learning in this area and looked at different types of lines (perpendicular, parallel, horizontal and vertical). They have also been looking at sizes of angles (right angles, obtuse angles and acute angles).

In our topic work we have learnt about another nursing hero called Mary Seacole. All the children thought she was very brave going onto the battlefield to treat the soldiers. Today we looked at an artist called Julian Opie who creates line drawings, in black felt tip, of people. I was very impressed with all the children’s efforts in creating work in his style. Well done to Connor and Charlie who shared their drawings in Praise and Celebrate this afternoon.

Thank you for all the wonderful hero homework that the children have completed. It is obvious that many of you have invested a lot of time and effort into this work.

Have a lovely half term break.
