Welcome back and Happy New Year!
We’ve had a fantastic start to 2026, and the children have settled back into school life brilliantly. Here’s what we’ve been up to this week:

English
We began planning and writing our own versions of Troll Swap! The children showed great independence and creativity, using lots of super noun phrases to describe their trolls. We were so impressed with their imaginative ideas and can't wait to read the rest of their stories.

Maths
A huge well done to Year 2 for their amazing work in addition! The children confidently used the rainbow strategy and have been doing brilliantly with the column method. Their hard work is really paying off!

Design & Technology (DT)
This week was full of excitement as we designed and built our very own bathing machines! Using boxes and everything we’ve learned about wheels and axles, the children created fantastic models with fully working mechanisms. What a creative bunch!

Geography
We started our fieldwork by exploring the current weather. The children went outside to observe and discuss what was happening at that exact moment. They learned why accurate representation is important—so we couldn’t say it was snowing if it wasn’t!

PE
Our first PE session focused on catching skills using beanbags, alternating hands, and even balancing on one leg! In the next session, we had lots of fun playing Hungry Hippos, where the children became hippos collecting beanbags while being pushed along the floor. What a fun-filled way to keep fit!

Computing
We explored the importance of giving clear instructions—a key skill for programming and everyday life!

Our big WELL DONE!

This week our big well done goes to Nellie, Zaylah and Archie. We look forward to seeing more children accessing Numbots next week to make our leader board really interesting!

We hope that you are having a wonderful weekend and are excited for more fun and learning next week. Thank you for your continued support!
