Delamere Weekly Blog - 12.12.2021

This week has been a wonderful week exploring Christianity Around the World as part of our whole school Inter-Faith week.

We started the week creating hands representing the key parts of the Christian faith and on Tuesday enjoyed a visit to our wonderful church. The children asked some really interesting questions and showed great respect as they explored the building.

Towards the end of the week we began to look at Christianity around the world. We looked at a selection of very interesting buildings and tried to work out what it was that they all had in common and the room was filled with surprise when I revealed that they were all Christian churches. "But they don't look like our church?" "Are you sure?!" "They are all very different." These were just some of the responses. We then followed Sparkle the swallow on a journey around the world, finding a safe place to rest in a variety of church buildings. We looked at churches in the U.K., Austria, Romania, South Sudan and South Africa. We looked at what was the same and what was different and realised that actually it doesn't matter what the building is like because it's the people who make a Christian Church. The children used a variety of construction materials to make a church and then used post it notes to describe it's features and it was so lovely that so many had a focus on the people inside.

On Friday we looked at the different ways Christians pray and made posters to show what we had discovered. Some beautiful work was produced with phrases like "We are united in prayer" being used.

Well done to our Numbots winners Kizzy and Zac and to our Excellent Examples for this week Courban, Alice, Vicky, Kobe and Alyssia.

Have a fantastic weekend and we look forward to seeing you for a busy and fun-filled last week before Christmas x
