Delamere Weekly Blog - 13.1.23

Date: 13th Jan 2023 @ 5:11pm

Delamere?! What have you been having for breakfast this week?! Whatever it is keep having it because this week you have been even more super than normal! We have seen a massive improvement in the children’s attitude to their learning, independence and overall behaviour, all important skills and qualities for Year 2, and we are so impressed. Keep it up Delamere!

We have had a really big push in English this week, exploring a fact sheet about Cats, pulling out all of the important features such as Titles and Subheadings and also spotting our mastery keys from our current English unit. We then produced some amazing plans for our own fact sheets about owls and began to write our final piece. We saw some great noun phrases, commas in a list and gorgeous word choices being used. Presentation has definitely seen a vast improvement and we cannot wait to see the final versions!

We have continued to use our recall of number bonds to ten in our Maths moving onto subtraction to a ten and across ten. Some of the strategies that we are learning may seem a little tricky just now but will help us to solve calculations more efficiently in the future so don’t forget to practise those number bonds to 10. The children have really enjoyed playing the number bond game on the link below. Our class high score is 18! I wonder if you can beat this score at home.

This week our big WELL DONE this week goes to Toby, Adelaide and Thea and our Excellent Examples Lucas, Savannah and Olivia.

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week.
