Another fabulous week in Delamere!

On Wednesday the children went swimming for the first time as a class and we were all so impressed with how well everyone did! There was lots of super listening and it was fabulous to see the children grow in confidence as the session went on. We are all extremely proud of you all!

Remember, for swimming each week, your child will need;

  • Swimming costume/trunks
  • Towel
  • Goggles
  • Change of underwear
  • Water proof bag (this can be a carrier bag)

Please may we ask that your child wears socks on swimming days rather than tights. If your child does wear tights, please may you pack some socks for after swimming as it is tricky to get tights on afterwards. Hair must be tied up securely.

Whilst we are swimming, Delamere will no longer have PE on a Thursday so will only need their PE kit on a Monday.

In Maths this week we have continued to work on our addition and subtraction and have used our recall of number bonds to ten to help us cross the boundary of ten. The children have showed increasing confidence with this skill and we look forward to seeing how they get on next week when we will be moving onto adding and subtracting two 2-digit numbers, e.g. 24 + 13.

We had some super sessions in English this week as we continued to explore our class book 'The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark'.  A particular highlight was when we all went outside to look at the morning sky and then together came up with some gorgeous noun phrases to describe what we could see, "clear, blue sky', 'pufffy, white plane trails', 'fast, zooming planes'.

In RE we began our unit of work on Judaism and in Guided Reading we looked at the first few pages of the book 'Rabbit and Bear'. I wonder if your child can tell you who they think the culprit is.

Our huge WELL DONE  this week goes to Kizzy, Amelia and Kobe for their Numbots work and Lexi-May, Sophia and Victoria are our excellent examples for the week. We will be re-sending Numbots login details this week and look forward to possibly seeing some new names on the leaderboard. Remember, this practise is part of the home learning expectations and regular practise will help support your child's confidence and fluency in their Maths work.

Don't forget to practise your spellings today ready for tomorrow's spell check. Can you sing the -ed word ending song to your grown ups?

We hope that you are having a restful weekend and will see you tomorrow for more fun and learning in Delamere!
