Another great week to end the children’s first half term in Year 2!
As authors in English we completed our own versions of the story ‘Troll Swap’ and I think that Julia Donaldson has got some serious competition! The children worked hard to include the skills they have learnt, noun phrases, using the words ‘and’ and ‘because’ and including capital letters and full stops in their sentences. We then published parts of our learning for our class display which now proudly stands in our classroom. We can’t wait for you to see it.
In Maths we used our skills of counting in steps to problem solve and reason and it was brilliant to see the children grown in confidence especially the language of reasoning and questioning such as “I think that … because …”, “I already know that … so …”. We ended the week with a quick Maths check and once again the children were amazing!
In Science this week we got a bot crafty. After watching an awe inspiring clip about the different places in our wonderful world, we thought about what kind of different habitats there are. Then we used lots of different resources to create our own habitat pictures. We had a range of habitats from Arctic to Rainforests! We don’t have any photos yet but watch this space.
The children have been dancers and choreographers this half term in P.E. and this week was their time to “Let their lights shine” as they showcased their own dances. Lots of collaborative work, leadership skills, core strength and control was on display and it was a joy to watch.
Our big WELL DONE this week goes to our Numbots winners, Thea, Hudson and Danielle and an Excellent Example of carrying out our own learning at home goes to Adelaide.
We would like to say a massive WELL DONE to each and every member of our class for a fantastic first half term in Delamere. So much has been achieved and we can’t wait to see where the year takes us from here.
