Delamere Weekly Blog - 21.1.2022

What a wonderful week we have had!  We have lots to celebrate and be proud of.

Firstly we would like to start with a massive thank you for your support in listening to your child read.  Remember we are looking for four reads a week (or more!).  We are certainly starting to see a difference in your child's reading progress with some children moving reading levels recently as well as moving up the reading ladder steps.  Keep up the good work and we look forward to celebrating even more reading achievements.  In addition to this we have seen a small increase in the use of Numbots.  This is your child's weekly homework therefore we would encourage you to make sure your child accesses Numbots several times a week.  At school we are monitoring who is logging on each week and we can see some children are doing so well and logging on up to four times a week - well done!  All Numbots logins have been sent home and can be found inside your child's Spring reading diary.  We have also sent the login codes as a separate letter so you can keep a copy on your fridge or noticeboard at home too.

This week has been jam packed with an introduction to Grace Darling in our History lesson, some fabulous inference skills in our guided reading sessions, some mega maths skills in our tricky maths this week and evidence of some wonderfully creative writing within our English lessons.

Swimming was a sucess on Wednesday with every child happily getting into the pool and learning skills in bubble blowing, kicking their legs smartly and floating on their backs - some children could do this without the aid of a pool noodle.  Top job!  Please keep practising towel drying after a bath or shower with your child as this will help speed up the process of getting dressed after swimming.  Thank you.  (Also, could you please name ALL your child's clothing to avoid any mix ups.)

The highlight of our week was learning a dance routine with Jack our dance coach.  He talked to the children about his inspiration for the dance which is the 1980s era and they had lots of fun discovering games from the 80s and were introduced to 1980s pop culture in the process.  A blast from the past for many members of staff!

Our BIG WELL DONE this week goes to Ava, Kobe and Alyssia for their work on Numbots and Evie, Ernie and Brooke who were our Excellent Examples this week.

Have a fabulous weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.
