Well, that half term just whizzed by! They do say that time flies when you're having fun, and we have definitely had a jam-packed, fun-filled first half term in Delamere!
✏️ English
This week, we continued exploring the delightful poem The Owl and the Pussycat. The children have enjoyed diving into the rhythm and rhyme of the poem and imagining the whimsical journey of the characters. We’ve been discussing the meaning behind some of the more unusual words and phrases and even tried writing our own verses!
🔢 Maths
We’ve moved on to counting in steps—starting with 2s, then 5s and finally 10s. This is a brilliant skill that helps us become more efficient mathematicians. It’s easy to practise at home too! Try counting socks or shoes in 2s, fingers in 10s, or even groups of cheerios or pebbles. The children have really enjoyed spotting patterns and using their counting skills in practical ways.
🕍 RE
In RE, we learned about the Jewish place of worship—the synagogue. We discovered that it’s a special place where Jewish people worship God, learn about Him, and celebrate or remember together. Using all our new knowledge, we built our own synagogues out of LEGO, making sure to include key features like the Ark, the Torah, and more. The creativity and attention to detail were fantastic!
🎨 Art
We completed our final pieces of wax resist autumn leaves this week—and they are absolutely gorgeous! Mrw Williamson has taken them home to turn into beautiful leaf garlands for our classroom display. We can’t wait to see them brightening up our space after the break.
We’d just like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all parents and carers for your fantastic support this half term. We really do appreciate it and are looking forward to lots more fun and learning after the break.
