Delamere Weekly Blog - 26.11.2021

Date: 26th Nov 2021 @ 3:28pm

Well it is certainly starting to feel a little more wintery this week and the children were grateful for their warmer PE kits during our cricket session!  It has been so lovely to see them all grow in confidence with their throwing and catching skills as they develop their skills in cricket.

In English this week we have started to look at a range of texts and sources relating to owls.  We have been making notes and writing simple sentences to share our knowledge and understanding.  We loved sharing the story of Owl Babies - a firm childhood favourite amongst the class.  If you don't have a copy at home but wish to share the story with your child, then follow this link https://www.booktrust.org.uk/books-and-reading/have-some-fun/storybooks-and-games/owl-babies/
In Maths we have been exploring the relationship between bonds to 10 and bonds to 100.  Lots of wonderful mathematical talk has taken place this week with our children making essential connections between patterns in number.

We had the most wonderful history lesson this week where we revisited and talked about the stories of friends, family and members of the local community and their personal connections with the war.  Throughout the last few weeks our children have been inspired to learn about the war through more familiar connections and thoroughly enjoyed sharing the facts and stories that they found out.  These are now proudly and neatly presented into their own little local memories books.

This week all our children have been taking part in the Phonics Screening Check and they have all worked so hard.  Well done to each and every child for their superb efforts.  Extra raffle tickets all round!

Well done to our Numbots winners Phoebe and Zac and our Excellent Examples Ava, George and Sophia.

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you next week.
