Delamere Weekly Blog - 28.1.2022

Date: 28th Jan 2022 @ 4:38pm

Another busy and eventful week completed in Delamere class and what a wonderful time we have had!

We have been really speeding up with our maths fluency skills and we are certain this is credit to the children accessing Numbots as part of their weekly homework requirements.  This week's Numbots winners are Alyssia 1st, Pheobe 2nd and Ava 3rd place.  Well done - what super stars you are! Also in maths we have been focussing on solving addition problems using different steps and strategies.  The children have listened and worked very hard on their layout and presentation and quickly realised that an organised piece of work makes it much easier to follow each of the steps.  Top job children.

In English this week we have written a letter to Plop's cousin Brownie offering some fabulous advice about how to get over the fear of the dark.  Such compassionate ideas came through.  'The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love'. Psalm 146:8  We have also started to explore non -fiction texts and the key features such as headings, subheadings and introductions.  Perhaps your child could take a look at more non - fiction texts at home too?

We were so impressed with the children's memories in dance this week where they were able to recall all of the first section of the dance that we have been learning with Jack.  So much so, that we were able to start part two. Swimming was also amazing with every child showing confidence in the water, blowing bubbles, rotating their bodies in the water and even jumping in from the side.  Let's keep up the hard work.  (Keep practising towel drying at home.)

We have seen more children reading more regulalry - don't forget expectation is 4 or more reads per week please.  Then we can reward their efforts with a move up the reading ladder.  We have quite a few nearing the top of the bronze ladder that we would love to give their certificate and badges too.

Excellent examples this week are awarded to Sophia, Courban, Brooke and Kizzy.

Don't forget to book your parent's consultation appointments.

Have a lovely weekend.
