Delamere Weekly Blog - 8.10.2021

Date: 8th Oct 2021 @ 12:46pm

What a wonderful week we have had in Delamere class. We have been very busy taking part in a whole host of exciting activities including cricket games on Monday, French on Tuesday and then a special art session with Mrs Kelly on Wednesday!

We also had a fabulous day on Monday talking about Plastic Pollution and thinking about ways in which we can ‘Let our Light Shine’ Matthew 5 14 – 16 by being courageous advocates and make simple but effective changes to the way in which we can reduce the use of plastic in our everyday lives.  We each wrote our own plastics pledge and considered the impact of plastic on the oceans and the animals that live within the oceans.  The children showed great compassion when discussing the animals that could be under threat from plastic pollution and were keen to think of ways in which they can make the world a better place.

In English we have been really focussing our attentions on building super sentences with capital letters, fingers spaces and full stops.

In Guided Reading we looked at the story of Eric once more and discovered that he went on lots of excursions including the cinema, zoo, a restaurant and even a casino!  (See if your child can explain what the word excursion means!)  We are really enjoying this book and the children’s book talk has been so interesting and insightful.  Well done Delamere class!

In maths we have been working hard on more than, less than and equal to and also ordering numbers within 100.  Lots of great practical maths has taken place and some super maths vocabulary was used during discussions.

In Science we looked more clsoely at the life cycle of a human, and sorted things that they can  do at each stage. This created lots of lovely Science discussion and debate as we shared and explored our different views. The children are also becoming really confident in using the key vocabulary appropriately such as, offspring, adult, child, develop and young.

A big well done to this week's Numbot winners Brooke, Lexi-May and Ava and also to our excellent examples this week Connie, Lexi-May and Ernie.

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing what next week brings!
