Delamere Weekly Blog - 8.9.2023

Date: 8th Sep 2023 @ 4:00pm

Hello there and welcome to Delamere Class! What a fantastic start to the new year we have had. All of the staff in Delamere thought that we had been sent the Year 6 class by accident this week as the children have been so brilliant – Ready, Respectful and Safe all round! It has been a pleasure getting to know everyone and we cannot wait to see what the year holds.

This week has been all about exploring the classroom, learning about our routines and expectations and it has been great to see the children accessing the different parts of the learning environment so respectfully.

In RE we explored some of the symbols for the Holy Spirit and made fire hats and wind sticks to help us remember what happened to the disciples when the Holy spirit came to them.

Don’t forget to have a look around the Delamere Class page on the OSJ website for more information about the class, but here are a few highlights.

Reading books will be coming home on Monday 11th September, including a reading record, numbered reading book and a library book. We are excited to begin the Readopoly game that has been launched this year and hope we can keep up with the children as they whizz around the board. Please do send reading wallets in EVERY day so that we can read with the children throughout the week.

On the back cover of the reading record you will find the code for your child to access Numbots. This is a really fun part of our home learning so please do support your child in accessing the programme regularly. On a Friday we will give out certificates for the top 3 children who have earned the most coins.

PE sessions take place on a Monday and a Thursday. Please send your child’s PE kit in in a bag that can be left at school. We will keep the PE kits in to make life easier and send them home half termly. Any children that had a separate PE bag this week have already popped them in our PE box so don’t worry if it hasn’t come home.

Thank you for sending your child with a water bottle this week – the warmer weather has certainly caught us out!  Your child is encouraged to refill their water bottle during the day so don’t worry if they come home with a full bottle of water as it is likely that they have refilled it during the afternoon.  Rest assured we have regular water breaks throughout the day to support any child that may need a reminder to rehydrate.

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to lots more fun and learning next week.
