Delamere's Update 5.5.17

Date: 7th May 2017 @ 7:45pm

Even though it has only been a four day week, we have certainly got through lots of work. Well done children!

In English we have started to look at our new unit about Goldilocks. We are currently looking at the traditional version of the story before moving on to look at some alternative versions. In our last lesson this week the children did a brilliant job of re-telling the story in small groups. We were focussing on the use of expression in our voices.

Our focus in maths has been multiplication and division. The children are becoming really confident in these areas, thank you for all of you doing some extra practise as home. To finish off the week I asked the children to compete a maths booklet. This is the final practise paper before our SATs week.

Our SATs week starts on Monday 15th May. Across the week children will complete two reading and two maths booklets. We have done plenty of practise across the year so all the children are familiar with what to expect. Some of them actually enjoy completing them! These booklets are not done under pressure and I try to be as relaxed about them as possible. Some of the booklets will be done as a whole class and for others I will take the children in small groups. Please do come and see me if you have any questions about the SATs.

There will be no set homework from now until SATs are over. All I ask is that the children are reading regularly, practising the common exception words and continuing to learn multiplication and division facts.

Thank you for all you support

Mrs Bettley.
