Delamere's Weekly Blog - 05.12.25
Date: 5th Dec 2025 @ 3:58pm
Another awesome week in Delamere, made extra special with a little sprinkling of festive fun!
English
This week we have completed two writing tasks, a diary from the point of view of Tabitha's worried parents and a character description focusing on Tabitha herself.
It has been great to see the improvement in the quality of the children's writing as well as their stamina – Keep it up, Delamere!
Maths
This week we continued to work on addition strategies:
- Adding 2-digit and 1-digit numbers
- Adding two 2-digit number
We practised a written method bringing together lots of our learning and we were really pleased with how hard the children worked on this new skill. Great effort everyone!
Science
This week we explored different habitats and which animals live there. We discussed suitability and why animals survive better in certain habitats.
PE
We did group choreography and danced in unison. Myah and Zaylah worked beautifully together! Miss Boydell was so impressed with everyone – it was the most beautiful lesson. Well done!
DT
We continued learning about bathing machines this week, focusing on wheels and axles. We compared fixed axles and free axles. We’re excited to building our own models but which will happen after Christmas. Please keep an eye out for a good box for the chassis and any junk modelling bits for features like ladders or curtains. If your house is anything like mine, I'm sure there will be lots of boxes hanging around your homes at the moment with all of the Christmas deliveries.
RE
We began learning about how Jewish people remember Shabbat. We shared our own special days, discovered why Shabbat is so important and then set our own Shabbat tables.
Numbots & Reading
Thank you for supporting your child with their Numbots home learning – just 5 mins, 3 times a week makes a huge difference!
Top 3 leaders: Archie, Zaylah, and Finlay – amazing work!
Reading certificates are on the rise as we had 3 in Delamere this week – let’s see how many we can earn before Christmas!

Festive Fun
It was lovely to see so many of you at the Christmas movie night! We’re excited for the last two weeks before the Christmas break. Check out Mrs Snowdon's blog for more details of upcoming events. The children are doing brilliantly with our class song – we can’t wait to share it at the Christmas Service.
We hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more festive fun next week.
