Delamere's Weekly Blog - 10.11.2023

Another busy week in Delamere!
In English we have spent the beginning of the week planning our own versions of the story ‘Troll Swap’ and have now completed the beginning section! What a fantastic effort we all made and I can’t wait to read the rest of the children’s stories.
In Maths we have continued to practise counting on in tens from any 2-digit number and we made real progress with this. We also counted in steps of 3.
This week the whole school have been exploring Remembrance Week and we focused on finding out why we remember Florence Nightingale. The children were fantastic historians as they looked closely for clues to find out what changes she made to the hospitals during the Crimean War. We were also very excited to hear that Queen Victoria, who we have been learning all about, noticed her achievements and rewarded her with The Nightingale Jewel.
This week has also been parliament week (we did say it had been busy!) and in Delamere we focused on learning about the 3 parts of parliament, the House of Commons, the House of Lords and the Monarch. We made Houses of Parliament word art and added lift the flaps to test our friends’ knowledge. These will be displayed on the British Values display in the corridor.
Our big WELL DONE for Numbots this week goes to Daisy, Archie and Suzanne.
We hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to another jam packed week in Delamere next which will include a visit from Vale Royal Falconry and a virtual author visit Vashti Harrison, creator of Big. (See Mrs Snowdon’s blog for the dates.)
