Delamere's Weekly Blog - 10.6.022

It has been so lovely to get back to school after a much needed half term break for our last half term in Year 2! Where has the time gone?

It has been a busy but productive week with the children making real progress on their skills of telling the time. We have been imagining the word TOP written at the top of our clocks and it has helped us to work out which side of the clock shows to (T) and which side shows past (P).  The O in the middle shows us O’clock. It has really helped us and we’ve even moved onto finding intervals of 5 minutes. This is a skill that can be easily practiced at home and I’m sure that the children would be excited to show you their new skill!

In English we have been working on writing a variety of sentence types, command, statement, exclamation sentence and question. We then put all of our skills into practice to write letters to Mrs Snowdon informing her that there have been many sightings of dragons in our classroom! We included lots of detail and tried to write a variety of sentence types. We will keep you posted about the dragons! They really are very cheeky!

If you have heard the children talk about a new person this week, we had a special visit from Mrs Matzen who will be spending lots of time in Delamere from the 20th June and we are all really looking forward to welcoming her into our school for 4 whole weeks.

Our big WELL DONE this week goes to our Excellent examples Alice and Jaydan, Numbots winners Ameila, Alyssia and Vicky and our TTRS winners Phoebe, Sophia and Marley. Please remember that these games are the children’s only home learning and must be accessed every week.

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to more fun and learning next week.
