Another jam packed week with so many positive moments and achievements.
A real highlight this week has been reading the fantastic comments and listening to the fabulous recordings on our Reading Log, Learning with Parents. Well done to everyone who has read this week. Just a quick reminder that we are aiming for 4 reads at home and that it is important that children are reading their numbered book and using their library book as a shared read with their grown-ups.
As we are all showing a real interest in books and reading please do remember that the school library is open on a Tuesday from 3:00 – 3:30 when children are able to explore the many wonderful books that we have and even borrow some so they can enjoy them at home. Mrs M has put a lot of effort into our library space and it really is a lovely place to be.
In English we have been preparing for writing our own versions of Troll Swap by creating characters and making a class plan. We cannot wait to see where your stories of Tom and Tilly will take you!
In Maths we have been exploring place value through number lines, completing missing number lines and placing numbers in the correct position on number lines from 0 – 100. Confidence is high and it is great to hear so many children saying that they love Maths.
In other areas of the curriculum we have been throwing over arm and under arm in Cricket, creating continuous drawing pictures in Art, grouping and classifying living things in our environment in Science, researching the lives of the 3 Queens in History and in RE we began our new unit Creation looking at some of the wonderful things in our world and learning about how our world is a gift from God.
Our big WELL DONE this week goes to Oliver for playing for the most minutes and Reuben for achieving the most coins on Numbots. Well done to our other certificate winners this week, Daneel and Izzy. 30 raffle tickets have made their way into the tin for the two top winners and ten for Izzy and Daneel. Remember, you’ve got to be in it to win it. Even 5 minutes a day could see you getting to the top of the leader board or to the next level and you know what that means … a certificate for your wall! Go for it Delamere!
Coming up next week – Don’t forget the Roald Dahl workshop after school on Thursday, a great chance to get crafty and celebrate a fantastic author.
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week.
Team Delamere.
