Delamere's Weekly Blog - 11.3.2022

Another busy week with lots to celebrate! Is it just me or are the weeks just flying by?

In English this week the children have been looking at the night poems, thinking of their own ideas of things they might hear at night and questions that they might ask. There were some absolutely gorgeous ideas and the children are getting so much more adventurous with their word choices!  We had 'fluffy clouds singing', 'scary owls hooting spookily' and 'people chatting secretly'. Well done everyone!

In Maths we have continued to work on subtraction and it has been wonderful to see how we are applying skills from other areas to help us too.

We had an exciting Science session this week as the class helped me to find the most absorbent material to wipe up after my dog Dougie who is very good at knocking our drinks over with his long, waggy tail. The children explored the different materials that we were going to test, made predictions based on what they observed, tested the materials by dipping the ends in water to see which absorbed the water the most quickly and shared their findings. Lots of fabulous Scientific language was used and the children were excellent Scientists today.

In RE we consolidated our learning about Judaism and made hands to help us remember some of the key facts about this world religion. I wonder if they can tell you what was on each finger.

A big WELL DONE to our Numbots winners this week Evie, Kizzy and Phoebe who got lots of raffle tickets for their hard work. I look forward to seeing more children engaging with the programme next week! Remember it is part of our home learning in Delamere.

Another big WELL DONE to Brooke and Amelia who got our Excellent examples for the week for their super English work.

Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you for more fun and learning next week.
