Delamere's Weekly Blog - 12.06.26

Date: 12th Jun 2026 @ 2:54pm

What a wet week it has been! However, Delamere didn’t let it dampen their spirits and have enjoyed a wonderful week full of fun and learning. It has been lovely to see the children’s enthusiasm, kindness and love of learning throughout the week.

English
In English, we explored exclamation sentences before applying these in our writing. The children then wrote diary entries in the role of George, expressing his frustration at the dragons causing mischief!

Maths
In Maths, we have been finding one third and developing our understanding of fractions. The children have been learning to recognise both unit fractions (such as 1/2, 1/3, 1/4) and non-unit fractions (such as 2/3 or 3/4). We have explored how fractions represent equal parts of a whole and have practised finding a fraction of shapes and quantities using practical and pictorial methods.

Science
In Science, we explored bulbs and seeds, focusing in particular on garlic bulbs—our classroom was definitely a little whiffy! The children examined them closely and labelled the different parts: tunic, roots, shoot and scales.

Design and Technology (DT)
In DT, we explored the importance of using a template. The children created paper templates and investigated a variety of ways to attach them to fabric to ensure they produced pieces of the same size and shape. They then used their templates to make paper puppets—there was some gorgeous work!
We are now ready to move on to the making stage of our unit, and I can’t wait to see the children’s wonderful owl puppets come to life.

PE
Our PE stars this week were Holly and Binx for their excellent rolling accuracy in bowling. Well done! We had a few children missing their kits, and there was quite a lot of loose kit in the box, which we sorted through. Everyone should now have the correct kit again.

PE Reminder
For the next four weeks, children will need to have their PE kits in school on both Tuesday and Thursday.

Achievements
Well done to our Numbots winners: Leighton, Robyn and Kesley, and to our second group of TTRS winners: Coby, Molly and Nellie — fantastic effort all round!
We have also loved listening to some wonderful reading recordings this week. A special well done to Kora for carefully spotting an exclamation mark—great reading skills!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week.
