Over St. John's Agents of Change
The Agents of Change group is a pupil‑led initiative made up of children from Years 2 to 6 that brings our Christian vision to life: “Let your light shine before others”
As Agents of Change, pupils are encouraged to recognise that they each have a light to shine – through kindness, courage, compassion and a commitment to justice. The group helps children understand how they can use their voices, choices and actions to make a positive difference in our school, our community and the wider world.
Rooted in our Christian values, the group provides opportunities for pupils to:
Explore issues of fairness, injustice and responsibility
Ask thoughtful and courageous questions
Reflect on what it means to love their neighbour and care for creation
Take meaningful action that is informed, purposeful and driven by empathy
Being an Agent of Change is about more than fundraising. Pupils learn why issues matter, how they connect to our Christian vision, and how thoughtful action can bring hope and change. Children are supported to speak up respectfully, lead initiatives, and encourage others to act, allowing their light to shine in ways that serve the common good.
The group plays an important role in developing an active culture of justice and responsibility. Through the Agents of Change, pupils grow in confidence, understanding and moral courage, learning that even small actions can reflect God’s love in the world.
How can we be courageous advocates at OSJ?
Being a courageous advocate might look like:
Including someone who feels left out
Standing up for fairness
Caring for God’s creations such as the environment, plants and animals
Supporting people who are in need
Speaking kindly and bravely when something isn’t right
