Delamere's Weekly Blog - 12.09.25

Date: 11th Sep 2025 @ 7:12pm

We’ve had a brilliant second week in Delamere Class! Here’s what we’ve been up to:

In Maths we’ve been practising counting in tens and ones to help us understand how numbers are made. We’ve used cubes, pictures and number lines to help us. Great work, everyone!

In English we started reading our new book 'Look Up!' by Nathan Byron and it’s already got us thinking and talking! We’ve written our own sentences and joined them using “and”. We also learned about noun phrases to make our writing more exciting—like saying “the shiny rocket” instead of just “rocket”!

In Art, we explored collections like rocks, wooden objects, and tiny parts. We used our senses to feel the textures and explored words to describe them—like rough, smooth, bumpy and soft.

In RE we shared our favourite books and talked about why they are special to us. We also discussed how we can look after books and treat them with care and respect.

In History we continued using our timeline to organise historical events. We learned about three very important queens:
👑 Queen Elizabeth I
👑 Queen Victoria
👑 Queen Elizabeth II
We talked about who they were, when they reigned and will begin to learn why they are remembered in our next session.

We learned how to tie our shoelaces in PSHE and talked about why it’s important for keeping safe and being independent. We watched a video from Mr Tumble to help us learn the steps. Everyone has been asked to practise at home—keep going, you’ve got this Delamere!

In Gymnastics, we used our bodies to make shapes like a tuck, stretch and star and in Cricket, we practised catching by opening our hands and keeping the heels of our hands together—great teamwork and coordination!

We had an exciting visit from the Animal Encounters team today! We met some amazing creatures and learned how to care for them, what they eat and where they live. The children were so brave and it was fantastic to see them get so close and even hold such a variety of interesting animals. There was Charlotte the tarantula, Severine the enourmous snake, Disco the charming Chameleon and Flower the super cute Skunk! What an experience! Photos to follow.

Well done to everyone who used Numbots this week! It is great to see so many of you accessing this fantastic resource. A special shout-out to our top 3 stars: Grace, Kora, and Roxie—amazing effort! Thank you also to all the children who brought in their spelling work—it was fantastic to see all of your hard work!

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week.
