🌟 Delamere Class Blog – What a Fantastic Week! 🌟
What a wonderful week of learning and creativity we’ve had in Delamere Class! It’s been super busy as we celebrated Anti-Bullying Week, Nursery Rhyme Week, and Remembrance Week.
📚 English – Nursery Rhyme Week
This week, we explored lots of different nursery rhymes including Little Bo Peep, Humpty Dumpty, Twinkle Twinkle, and Polly Put the Kettle On.
A big THANK YOU to Zaylah and Nellie for bringing in lovely nursery rhyme books to share with the class!
Our learning culminated in a fantastic performance of Little Bo Peep for our friends in Hatchmere. It was wonderful to see the two year groups enjoying poetry together!
🕰 History – Remembrance Week
We learned all about Florence Nightingale, a nurse who helped sick soldiers during the Crimean War. She was called “The Lady with the Lamp” because she cared for patients at night. We made our own Lamps and decorated them with pictures of things that Florence Nightingale changed.
Florence is remembered for:
  • Helping Sick People – Making hospitals cleaner and safer.
  • Starting Modern Nursing – Training nurses and showing their importance.
  • Saving Lives – Teaching good hygiene to stop illness.
  • Inspiring Others – Showing that one person can make a big difference.
💬 PSHE – Anti-Bullying Week
We kicked off the week with Odd Socks Day, celebrating our uniqueness and learning that it’s OK to be different. Lots of lovely discussions and some very snazzy socks!
➕ Maths
We began our new unit on Addition and Subtraction, starting with a recap of number bonds within 10 and 20. We’ve been VERY impressed with the children’s learning and can’t wait to continue next week!
🎨 Art
We applied our wax resist skills to create beautiful poppy pictures linked to Remembrance Week. We can’t wait to display them—keep your eyes peeled for photos!
⚽ PE
PE was great fun this week with a ball skills activity carousel! The children rotated through different stations, each focusing on a key skill. Everyone showed fantastic effort and sportsmanship and it was lovely to see so much energy and enthusiasm in every activity!
🔬 Science
We explored habitats and why different animals survive in different places. For example, a squirrel builds its home in the shelter of an oak tree so it can gather acorns.
🌍 Geography
We looked at compass points and discussed the weather at the North and South Poles. We identified these on maps and globes.
🏠 Home Learning Highlights
A huge well done to everyone who completed their home learning this week! We loved seeing fabulous spelling homework and reading your comments—thank you for your continued support.
Congratulations to our Numbots stars: Natan, Kora, and Leighton – super work!
For everyone who accessed Numbots this week, make sure that you show your grown-ups your stickers!
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week!
