Delamere's Weekly Blog - 15.11.2024

Date: 15th Nov 2024 @ 3:23pm

What a busy week we have had in Delamere. Time is definitely flying by! It was lovely to welcome the children today in their own clothes to raise awareness for Children in Need, a great way to end a great week.

In English we have completed our first poetry unit which included writing and publishing our very own versions of ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’. We are so impressed with the children’s work and cannot wait to display our poems in the classroom – watch this space!

In Maths we have moved onto Addition and Subtraction, finding fact families and using related facts to solve calculations, e.g. if I know that 4 + 2 = 6, then I also know that 4 + 20 = 60. Great efforts all around.

In Shared Reading we have really enjoyed looking at some other poems linked to our Rivers and the Sea unit. We loved exploring the poems ‘The River’ and ‘Lighthouse’, unpicking the language used and thinking about how the poets made the river and the lighthouse seem like a person.

In other areas of the curriculum we have continued to learn about Florence Nightingale in History, in RE we thought about how we could welcome a King, in Science we looked at food chains, in Geography we started looking  at where we live, including the road we live on and how we live at an address, in Winsford, in Cheshire, in England, in Europe in the northern hemisphere and in PE our dance session was about using canon movements like a Mexican wave. Was that really only one week? Well done Team Delamere!

Our big WELL DONE this week goes to Kalvin for once again getting to the top of our Numbots leader board. Well done to all of our other certificate winners and those who completed new levels. Please keep on accessing the website as it really does improve our Maths skills.

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week.
