Delamere's Weekly Blog - 16.9.22

Date: 16th Sep 2022 @ 3:56pm

Another very successful week in Delamere this week with a real highlight being our first swimming session. The children behaved beautifully throughout and quickly overcame any nerves and really gave it their all. It was so great to see smiles galore! Well done everyone.

In English this week we have started to explore ‘Troll Swap’ and we began by using our skills of inference and prediction to think about what might happen in the story. We moved onto exploring the character of Timothy Limpet and we have seen some super pieces of descriptive writing.

Maths has been all about partitioning numbers into tens and ones and after lots of practise using resources, the children are now really growing in confidence in this and have moved onto recording their learning using stem sentences and calculations. For example we know that 34 is made of 3 tens and 4 ones and can be represented as 34 = 30 + 4. We have been really impressed with the children’s resilience in their Maths work so well done Delamere.

In RE we have continued to learn about the Holy Spirit and to help us remember the Christian symbols we made wind sticks and fire hats and acted out the important parts of the story. Next week we will move onto designing our own crosses with the symbols of the Holy Spirit.

In Computing we have been thinking about the definition of Information Technology (IT). I wonder if your child can remember what it is? (See below for answer) Maybe you could have a look around your house for any examples of IT.

Well done to everyone who has accessed Numbots this week. It really does make a difference to our confidence in Maths. This week our big WELL DONE goes to Danielle, Belle and Savannah! Or Exellent Examples this week go to Danielle, Adelaide and Alice-Lily!

We hope that you have a good weekend and we will see you on Tuesday ready for more fun and learning.

Team Delamere.

(Answer – Information Technology is a computer or something that works with a computer – Did you get it right?!)
