Delamere's Weekly Blog - 22.3.24

This week has absolutely flown by! They do say time flies when you’re having fun and we have had lots of fun this week, particularly as we completed our last swimming sessions of the 3 week block. Not only have the children demonstrated real courage, resilience and determination over the last few weeks but their excellent behaviour has also been noticed by the swimming teachers. We really are so proud of you all Delamere and feel that you have all gained so much on your journey to becoming confident swimmers. Remember grown ups, the journey doesn’t stop here. Giving your children regular access to swimming will help them to practise and maintain the skills that they have mastered over the last few weeks. Perhaps a swim session at Winsford Brio could be an activity for the Easter holidays.

In other areas of the curriculum this week we have begun to explore our new English text ‘The Great Fire of London’ writing descriptions, observed and looked after our bean plant experiments in Science, explored the Easter story in R.E. and used a tally chart to record data in Computing. We have enjoyed spending time listening to the children read with a focus on comprehension and you may have noticed that some children have moved up in their levelled reading books. Don’t worry if your child hasn’t yet, there are some big steps in the reading progression at this point. Keep reading with your child regularly and don’t forget to ask some questions at the end to check their understanding. Some of our reading books have questions at the back but I have also attached a sheet with some suggestions to support you with this.

We have also been working hard practising our song for the Easter Service and look forward to performing it in the church on Thursday morning. This has taken the place of our weekly Nursery Rhyme but we will be listening to ‘Spring is Here’ to celebrate the start of this wonderful season. https://www.youtube.com/embed/DobrRgD5aOU?t=3s
