Delamere's Weekly Blog - 26.09.25

Date: 26th Sep 2025 @ 2:45pm

We’ve had a wonderfully busy week in Year 2, and the sunshine made it even more enjoyable. Here's a look at what we've been up to:

Computing – IT in the World Around Us
Our current Computing unit is all about investigating Information Technology (IT). This week, we explored how IT is used in supermarkets. The children worked in groups of three, taking on the roles of customer, barcode scanner, and till operator. Each item had a barcode, and the scanner communicated with the till to find prices, write receipts, and calculate totals. It was a brilliant way to combine Computing with real-life Maths skills – fantastic teamwork all round!

PSHCE – Keeping Safe
We discussed the people who help keep us safe – including how we can take responsibility for our own safety. Thoughtful conversations and great ideas from everyone!

Art – Inspired by Nature
We revisited the work of artist Alice Fox, who creates beautiful pieces inspired by nature. The children created their own continuous line drawings using fine-tipped pens, and they are absolutely fabulous. So much creativity on display!

PE – Gymnastics & Cricket
In gymnastics, we practised balances and jumps using pencil, tuck, pike, and star shapes. In cricket, we used bats to balance bean bags and took strikes at large balls. Great coordination and concentration!

History – Queen Victoria
We learned that Queen Victoria became queen at just 18 years old, married Prince Albert from Germany and had 9 children. The children were amazed to discover she had 40 grandchildren! Can you share any more fun facts about Queen Victoria with your grown-ups?

RE – Learning About the Torah
We recorded what we know about the Torah using pictures, labels, and short sentences. A lovely way to reflect and share our understanding.

Reading & Numbots Stars
A huge well done to everyone who read this week and accessed Numbots. Special shout-out to our Numbots stars: Natan, Coby and Leighton! The class even helped me with my own Numbots account and some children are very keen to getting going with it at home! If you are struggling to log in, please let me know and we can send a letter with login details home. If you don’t have a tablet or computer, you can access Numbots on a phone (with supervision) by clicking “Play Website” in the Download Now section. Enjoy!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week!
