Delamere's Weekly Blog - 26.1.2024

Date: 27th Jan 2024 @ 4:40pm

It has been another busy week in Delamere and it is great to see the children continuing to make great progress!

In English this week we have begun to gather lots of facts about Owls using information videos, fact files and books. We sorted the facts out into 4 categories, what owls look like, what owls eat, where owls live and what owls do. If you get some time over the weekend it would be great if you could find some more information to go on our wall, maybe your child could use their amazing handwriting to write some up! Our final writing task will be to create a fact file about owls so the more facts we have, the better.

In Maths we have been exploring another strategy to help us solve addition problems and the children got the hang of it really quickly. I have attached a picture below to show the method and we all tried hard to follow all of the steps and record our work in an organised way. Fantastic work everyone!

In History we recorded our learning about London Now and London in 1666 and used it to look for similarities and differences. Next week we will begin to sequence the events of The Great Fire of London.

In Geography we recapped the continents of the world. I’m sure your child would love to teach you the continents song!

In RE we explored the Torah and talked about how it is very special to Jewish people. We then began to think about things that are special to us.

In PSHE we continued to learn about Bullying through our Relationships unit and we had some fantastic discussions following on from a video about 3 boys. We helped them to make the right decision and thought about how they might be feeling during each part of the story.  There were some very mature and compassionate responses and we were very proud of you all Delamere.

Thank you so much for your support regarding PE kits. The turn out of full PE kits this week was a vast improvement and Miss Pile was so impressed as everyone joined in with a brilliant PE session on Thursday.

We have temporarily changed the reading book change day to Thursday. Sorry for any confusion. Books will still be checked and stamped on a Monday and reading wallets still need to be in school every day.

Our big WELL DONE this week goes to Tyler, Lily and Oscar for topping the Numbots leaderboard. Keep it up everyone and it might be you next week!

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week.
