Delamere's Weekly Blog - 27.03.26

Date: 27th Mar 2026 @ 2:15pm

We have had such a brilliant week in Delamere which brought the end to our swimming sessions! Unfortunately, there was a problem with the temperature of the pool so our last two session couldn't take place but the team of swimming coaches have been incredibly impressed with our children’s resilience, positive attitude and brilliant behaviour over the last few weeks. We were especially proud of how the children let their lights shine when cheering each other on and offering words of support. Everyone has made amazing progress in such a short space of time — a huge WELL DONE to each and every one of you! Who knows… maybe we spotted a few future Olympians!
A massive thank you also goes to the wonderful members of staff who have worked so hard to keep the children safe on the journeys to and from swimming each day — sometimes making the trip to St. Joseph’s three times! Mrs Starsiak, Miss Dyson, Mr Dufty and Mrs Snowdon - You are all superstars and we couldn't do it without you.

Science
In Science we looked at materials and items that we recycle, reuse and throw away. We then designed an item that we could create from something that we can reuse. Ideas such as pen pots made from tin cans, vases from glass jars, toys from plastic bottles etc.
Children are invited to bring their reusable material to school next week and create their designed item.

English
In English, we compared fiction and non-fiction texts before completing a shared read using a fascinating non-fiction text about foxes. The children were amazed by the facts they discovered and asked brilliant questions to deepen their understanding.

PE
In PE we applied all the skills we have been learning in hockey and played a match. The teamwork, fair play and encouragement on display were fantastic. Special congratulations to Natan, Zaylah and Grace, who were all awarded Star of the Session!

Maths
In Maths we continued to build our confidence with multiplication by using arrays. The children are becoming much more fluent at spotting and representing multiplication patterns — great effort, Delamere!

RE
In RE we learned that Easter is part of God’s bigger plan to mend the broken friendship between people and God. We looked at a picture of a broken heart and discovered that by adding words like hope, love, courage and forgiveness, the heart could be made whole again — just as Christians believe God did through Easter.
We then made wonderful Easter artworks using paper plates, celebrating the miracle of Jesus’ resurrection.
(Delamere — can you explain what  the word “resurrection” means to your grown‑ups?)

Celebrations
A huge WELL DONE to Leighton, Molly and Archie for their fantastic work on Numbots this week. We are also so proud of everyone who has been recording their reading regularly or received a certificate in collective worship. Keep it up!

Important Reminder
Next week is a short week — we break up on Wednesday at 2:00pm.
We’re really looking forward to seeing lots of you at the church on Wednesday morning for our Easter service. We cannot wait to perform our song “Hosanna!” — don’t forget to practise over the weekend!
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week.
