Well done to everyone in Delamere for another fantastic week!
Maths
In Maths this week, we have been working hard on the very tricky skill of adding by making 10, and we have been super impressed by the children's determination in mastering this important strategy!
We have also been adding three 1-digit numbers, looking for any number bonds that can make the job easier. For example:

6 + 2 + 4 . We know that 6 + 4 = 10, and then 10 + 2 = 12!
English
In English, we have been exploring our story Troll Swap further and spent time inventing and describing our own trolls. It was great to see the children applying their basic sentence work as well as including some wonderful noun phrases. Fantastic creativity, Delamere!
Geography
We located Kenya using atlases and explored which continent it is in. We also revisited the seven continents and ordered them by size.
Science
We looked at rainforest habitats and created rainforest collages while discussing which animals would survive there and why. We referenced food, water, air, and shelter throughout. We will complete this next week.
PE
We focused on synchronicity in dance, listening carefully to the beat. Molly and Archie were our star dancers!
DT
We began our unit on wheels and axles this week and researched the Victorian bathing machines. We looked at key features of a vehicle, labelled them on a variety of examples and then explored different bathing machines, describing which one we thought was the best.
We really enjoyed sharing the story Queen Victoria's Bathing Machine and seeing a photo of her actual bathing machine! Our end product will be a functioning model of a bathing machine, and we can’t wait to see the children’s creativity in full flow!

RE
We began our second Judaism unit today and continued learning about Moses and the Jewish Ten Commandments. We talked about the rules that we follow at OSJ and why rules are important. Next week, we will continue to learn about the rules that Jewish people follow.
Christmas Song
We have been practising our song for the Christmas Service this week. The lyrics have been sent home so that we can practise and become super confident before focusing on our performance skills. You are doing brilliantly, Delamere!
Celebrations
Well done to our Numbots winners this week Finlay, Archie and Leighton and thank you to everyone who has completed their home learning. It has been great to see lots of children proudly collecting their reading certificates in collective worship on Friday!
HELP NEEDED!
Our Chocolate Mania hamper is looking a little sad at the moment. We would be so grateful for any donations of chocolate treats—however big or small—to make it a lovely prize at our school fair. A massive thank you to everyone who has already donated!
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week!
