Delamere's Weekly Blog - 5.1.2024

Date: 5th Jan 2024 @ 4:14pm

Happy New Year and what a great start to 2024 we have had.

Firstly, we would like to welcome Mrs Roche into our class who is now with us on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning. She has really enjoyed getting to know everyone and we have shown compassion in helping her settle in. We also still get to see Mrs Starsiak in the afternoon which is great.

This week in Maths we have made real progress in adding by making ten and are beginning to see the benefit of applying this skill. We have also worked on adding to the next ten, with our fantastic knowledge of number bonds to ten really helping us out. Next week we will explore adding across ten.

In RE we completed our Incarnation unit by thinking about the 3 Kings who visited baby Jesus and what this means. We decorated gift boxes and chose presents fit for a king and made crowns decorated with key facts about the Feast of the Epiphany.

In DT we had the pleasure of visiting Hatchmere to show them our owl puppets and we had so much fun talking about how we made them and even told them some stories. We hope that they made it home in one piece and we think that you will agree that they are superb. We then reflected on the unit and evaluated the products against the design criteria. Great effort Delamere!

We have been learning a very apt Nursery Rhyme this week, ‘We’re Marching in our Wellingtons’ something that we are having to do in real life quite often at the moment. We also noticed that the title has a contraction in it, something we have been learning about in phonics, ‘we are’ becomes ‘we’re’. Follow the link below to have a go at home. Word of warning – it’s very catchy!

Quick reminders

PE days are Monday and Thursday but we advise that you leave PE kits in school for a half term. We are happy to store them at school.

Reading folders need to be brought into school every day and will be checked on a Monday and changed on a Tuesday.

Our big WELL DONE this week goes to Oscar, Daisy and Archie for topping the Numbots leader board.

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week.
