Another jam packed week in Delamere!
In Art we completed our Monoprint unit and the children worked really hard on exploring this technique and producing some really interesting and beautiful end pieces. In DT we continued our Model Fire Engine unit and looked at the different ways that axles and wheels can work. We sorted them and explored how they moved, thinking about which design we might use for our own fire engine models. In English we have had a focus on writing contractions, such as didn't and it's, and will be working hard to include these in our next pieces of writing. We have also looked back over our Great Fire of London fact sheets and edited them using our mastery keys. We are very proud of everyone’s work. In Maths we have started our next unit of work on fractions and the children have confidently identified and found half of a variety of shapes. In PSHE we began our ‘Our World’ unit thinking about the different types of jobs that we could do when we are adults. We started off by watching a gorgeous story called ‘Dream You’ll Be’ by Joseph Garcia and then drew a picture to show what we would like to be. It was a real pleasure to spend time sharing these wishes together and to hear all about their dreams for the future, with dreams of becoming a footballer, doctor, teacher, nursery teacher, scientist or an explorer. It was also reassuring to know that the children still think I have two years left until I am a grown up and can achieve my dream of becoming a rock star - phew!
To finish the week off with a real bang, today was Sports Day and we all headed over to St. Joseph’s to take part in a selection of activities. We were super proud of the excellent behaviour displayed, the resilience shown and the tremendous sportsmanship. A big thank you to everyone who came and cheered us on and well done to everyone!
Our big WELL DONE this week goes to Lily, Tyler and Suzanne. These are the 3 children who have played the most times so it just shows, the more that you play the better your chance of winning is. 30 raffle tickets are in the pot for you 3. I wonder who will win next week?
Thank you to all of the children who have had Biscuit Bear recently, it has been so lovely to hear all about the adventures you have been on together and all of the stories that you have shared. If you haven’t had a turn yet don’t worry, you will get to take him home soon.
We hope that you have a fantastic weekend and look forward to lots more fun and learning next week.
