Delamere's Weekly Update 13.1.17

Welcome to the first blog of 2017. I hope that you all had a lovely time over the festive period. The children were all very keen to tell me about the fun things that they had been doing during the holiday.

We have launched straight into our new topic this week called All Aboard! Have a look at our topic page where you will find our topic web which will give you more information. Click here to go straight to the topic page.

We have read our new book called the Dragon Machine by Helen Ward and have used this as a stimulus to invent our own dragons. We will be creating reports about our dragons which everyone will be able to see at our whole school writing exhibition in February. Over the next few weeks we will be producing lots of writing to add to this exhibition.

The children have worked hard this week using greater than > and less than < symbols to compare numbers. They have also learnt how to partition numbers in different ways e.g..

63 = 60 + 3       63 = 50 + 13       63 = 40 + 23

Homework will start again next week but please do remember that the children are expected to read as often as possible and practise there 2, 5 and 10 times tables alongside any other homework that they receive.

It is quite cold at the moment so please make sure your child brings items to keep them suitable warm at playtimes.
