Delamere's Weekly Update 30.9.16

Date: 1st Oct 2016 @ 5:16pm

What a busy week we have had!

In English we have found out a little bit more about our new book, Toys In Space. We thought about what the characters might be saying when they were left outside at night for the very first time. The challenge was to write a statement, an exclamation, a question and a command. Can your child remember what these different sentence types are? If you need an explanation the English section of Delamere’s webpage.

In Maths, Lucy the spider helped us to add and subtract multiples of ten on a 100 number grid. We have also been adding coins to make the same total in different ways. Some of the children found working with money a little tricky so it would be great if you could practice this at home.

Our topic work about the United Kingdom and The Queen has come to an end. This week we all created a portrait of The Queen using oil pastels. Please do come in after school one night to have a look at them on the wall in our classroom. We also finished our Royal Family Pic Collage using the Learnpads.

I am very proud of all the progress the children are already making. They are all trying really hard to impress me with their improved handwriting. They are hoping to be nominated for the handwriting award in Collective Worship on a Friday. Well done to James who won it this week.

Don’t forget to read at home. I check reading diaries every day and award a raffle ticket for reading at home.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Bettley.
