Fantastic Friday in Delamere - 25.6.2021

Date: 25th Jun 2021 @ 3:57pm

Another fantastic week in Delamere even though we are all starting to feel a little tired.

In Science we looked at the different stages of the human life cycle and it was great to hear the discussions going on around the classroom as the children pulled from their own personal experiences. We also had some fantastic news - one of our butterflies has emerged! It was such an exciting moment for us all. After school today I have added some slices of apple and a tissue soaked in a sugar syrup to give it lots of energy. Unfortunately, another butterfly also emerged shortly after but it did not survive, having got caught up in a thread on it's chrysalis. We talked about how this is quite common and that is the reason why butterflies lay so many eggs. I expect that the next two butterflies will emerge over the weekend, something to look forward to as you return to school on Monday.

In English the children were introduced to the character of Little Red in our new class book ‘The Last Wolf’ and we were quite surprised by her. Can you tell your grown ups, Delamere, what was different about the Little Red in this book and the Little Red Riding Hood from the more traditional tales we have read? There was lots of adventurous vocabulary being used and we wrote some super guides for ‘How to catch a wolf’.

In Maths we moved on in our addition work to adding two 2-digit numbers that cross ten, for example 27 + 15. I was really impressed with how quickly the children picked up the expanded column method. A big WELL DONE to everyone!

Well done to our Numbots winners for this week, Holly, Joshua and Robyn and also to our excellent examples Tate, Eva C and Mia.

We hope that you have a fantastic weekend and we will see you for more fun next week.
